Going to Darwin

On the 7th of June my family and I were getting ready to leave for Darwin, the first stop of our journey. We were leaving on a Jetstar plane that leaves at 1 pm and arrives at Darwin at 5 pm in Darwin time [which is one and a half hours time difference].

So we called a taxi, like we usually do, to go to the domestic airport. We went to do the normal procedure [since we've done this 10 times in the last 4 years], meaning we had to go through baggage drop and then through the x-ray things. Not as many things in the international  terminal but I still thought it took a long time, like every other thing i think is boring. After we got our boarding passes and after our bags got checked, it was like still an hour to our flight. In my head I was like, come on! We should have arrived here two hours ago not three! My family and I waited in the food court. I was like so totally bored, there was I could do. Ayesha was really enjoying herself. She was talking with my dad about the planes, taking off and landing. i then took pictures of the planes, since I had nothing else to do.
my view for 1 hour

Ayesha making sure everyone's safe
Fifty minutes passed and we were walking to our gate, which the number I've forgotten. Then we boarded the plane and took our usual seats. Me by the window, Ayesha in the middle, Mum by the aisle and dad behind us, and so we begin our journey and say goodbye to Sydney at least for a month, I think.

Oh yeah, in the last post, I take back what i said. I say bored much more often now.

Last Day at School

Ayesha on the way to pick me up
My last day of school was 1st of June. We would be leaving Sydney on the 7th of June on Thursday. My little sister, Ayesha's last day of school was the previous day.

I'm pretty sad about leaving Australia. I'm really going to miss everything here. I'm sure Indonesia's going to be different

It was a nice last day at school. My teacher read one of the stories I write during writing time, I thought mine was okay. Everybody was nice to me that day, they all wrote a card. At the end the day I handed everybody a bookmark and we all took photos.

It was very sad having to go away. Seriously though, at that time I didn't feel any emotion at all. It's very incredible how I didn't say the word "Bored" in this post, [though honestly, I don't say that much anymore]. Until next time, later.

First term of school

After camp I go back to school for the second week of term one. It was a good term. I met new people, made new friends and learn new math, English and Cogs. My teacher, Ms Katsilis, have us do writing in the morning. She gets us to write narratives, exposition and information reports. I might share some on my blog.

I like this class, but I can't wait until the holidays because I'm going camping again!

camping at Narrabeen: The short morning

I woke up early in the morning and saw that everyone's tent was covered with dew from the fog last night. I had a pretty good night last night, since that wasn't my first go. I saw Amy sitting down with her mum and her little sister. I went to join them. I found a seat and waited for the others to wake up. A few minutes went by and somebody woke up. By 7 o'clock everybody was up and talking to each other.

We waited for our breakfast while we talked. We said things like "If you get off your chair and someone else takes it, you don't have the chair unless you say reserved before you go" or " I heard you say the word 'what' "  or else "Today's total of the number of the word 'what' being said is 73." The breakfast came and we had corned beef and ate seaweed for a snack afterwards.

We all started packing up after we finished breakfast. Rere was the first to finish. When we completed everything, there was nothing on the block except the cars and ourselves. Everybody was going at 10 o'clock, as it was the checkout time, and we all went home started a different story.

Camping at Narrabeen: The rest of the day

Ayesha and Nadyne playing frog jump

Everybody's back from the beach and finished their showers now. We are all waiting for the frog jump. It's a party game where yo have plastic frogs and try to make them jump to the pond, by pressing it's tail. Everybody was was paired up and had to verse each other the winner gets to pick a prize [everybody got a prize, the winner just chose the colour.]

Everybody was happy with their prize [they all got different prizes, depending on their age] and played with it for the rest of the day. What happened to my friends [ kak Nisa and Noufal ] and myself for the rest of the day is this, the first part we all decided to get the map and find the playground. We found it pretty quick and told the little kids about it. They all wanted to play in the playground, so we had to take them there. We were all so bored [ my friends and myself, that is ] watching the little kids play on the equipment, so bored we said to them 'it's time to go back to the tent now.'

The second part of the rest of the day was this: kak Nisa had to do her homework [ I guess when you're in high school you get homework in the weekend ] and Noufal was just watching something on his Samsung tab. Do you want to know what I did? I just sat there and asked questions that they weren't answering. I gave up after sitting in a chair and watching them do their homework or playing on their Samsung and said 'You guys are sitting there doing nothing and I'm going to play with Rere and Dafina.' But kak Nisa said 'I'm doing something.' I had to admit she was right. Then I came up with a better sentence and said ' You guys are sitting there doing nothing that's exciting.' This time Noufal said 'This is exciting.' while he was pointing to his tab. Now I think of a better sentence and said for the last time ' You guys are sitting there doing nothing I think is exciting.' and walked away to join Dafina and Rere. I played with them for the rest of the day going in and out of tents, playing with our yo-yo and flashlights.

We had a nice barbecue dinner and went to sleep in our tents.

Camping at Narrabeen:North Narrabeen beach

Dafina, Rere and I playing with our bodyboards

Just finishing our food before we all head to the beach. About five minutes later we were all ready in our beach costumes as we gather our body-boards and walk through the gate and towards the beach. I was so excited when we set off. Five minutes of walking before we finally got there; and it turns out that the beach was on the other side of the river. The only thing on this side of the river was a swimming pool and rock pools. So we had to go all the way back to the main road and start walking to where the beach is. This took about ten minutes [ I thought it was longer since we had to climb up a hill ]. When we got there, we saw a beautiful long beach with big awesome waves

Once we started settling-in, all the little kids and Dafina and Rere were playing another party game. Three [3] people had to dig presents under the sand and the other three [3] had to find them and dig it up.

After we finished the game everyone wanted to have a swim. We found out that the red and yellow flags were in the middle of the beach, while we were right at the end. So everybody picked up their stuff and walked along the beach to get closer to the flags

When we finally got there Dafina, Rere and I ran straight to the water, carrying our body-boards with us [actually Dafina didn't have a body-board, she just ran to the water]. We all had so much fun in the there, riding big waves, swimming and building a sandcastle with a big wall to protect it.

We all went home when it was to cold to swim. Everybody went to have a warm shower and get ready for what we are going to do next.

Camping at Narrabeen: The real party

Ais, ready to hit the pinata

Waiting for Amy, she's going to arrive any minute. At 10 o'clock she arrived and pitch her tent [well her dad does]. Then we start our party

First, we were all given goody bags by Amy as her dad set up the pinata. This pinata was shaped as a cube and covered with crape paper. This must be homemade because no one could break it. With a few more hits Noufal managed to break it and sent the lollies flying everywhere [if you don't know, lollies are always inside pinatas]. Everybody was scrambling everywhere, though not Kak Nisa and Ayesha [ I was getting Ayesha's lollies for her ] They were sitting down and watching everybody scrambling for sweets.

Well, now all we have to do is wait till we go to the beach and after  that we're going to have another party game!

Camping at Narrabeen: Waiting for Amy

us being bored

The very first night I slept in a tent was a very rainy night. It rained all of the night! I woke up at five o'clock and the first thing I saw was that my parents were not here , and my sister was fast asleep in her sleeping bag. I found my mum outside, chatting with her friends outside. Once I was really awake I realized I was the first kid awake. I started walking around our block for a moment trying to feel warm. Around half past five my friends started waking up.We started talking and waited until the others woke up.

As soon as breakfast was ready we all got food and went to find seats. Around 6:30 everybody was awake and started to talk loudly. The food was delicious. We were all eating noodles and sitting on chairs or mats (since there wasn't enough chairs).

We all finished and played in different play groups, I usually go with Kak Nisa and Noufal, Ayesha plays with Nadyne, Ghaisan and Ais, Raiyan and Khalif play together and Rere and Dafina just 'explore' the tents.

Playing with Kak Nisa and Noufal is like stepping into 'boredville'. The only thing they do is sit down and watch a cartoon on the samsung tab. They're going to do this until ten o'clock I think, that's when Amy comes and when the real party begins.

Camping at Narrabeen: the pizza party

Everyone was here at my party [not Amy's family though they were coming tomorrow]. We wanted to put the party outside but it was raining so we used Noufal's tent instead, the biggest tent out of all of us. We had a birthday cake with my name on it and two boxes of delicious pizza. We also have two kinds of soft drink lemonade and some tropical. After we ate the cake and pizza, it became a mad house. The children were talking to each other, so were the parents and  it was so loud.

When the talk died down we all went outside. Unlike everybody else I felt sleepy. I went inside my own tent with the rest of my family, hoping to wake up early to see the sunrise.

Camping at Narrabeen : everybody coming

my blue car parked next to my tent
I always wanted to go camping. It sounds really cool to me. You know what the do at camp they build tents, read maps and sleep overnight in a waterproof dome its really cool, but I never experienced it. I heard Amy's family [my friend] is going camping and asked my family to join them for a night, but unfortunately  it was all the sites was booked. Then the word that we were camping spread out so everybody was going on the camping trip. The parents were having a discussion about where we were going and what to bring, but the children were  having a discussion about what we are going to do and what sleeping bag we have and whose tent is biggest you know the important things so you don't get bored.

Today on Friday is the day we go camping to Narrabeen, since every other site is booked. I'm still going to school, we're going to camp after school and stay for two nights. The trip to Narrabeen was one hour long I was bored, like always. My family was the second to arrive and Rere's family [another friend] was right behind us. We drove through the boom gate and to our camp site. Khalif's family was first with Dafina and her dad [they went in khalif's car since they didn't have their own one] . I was so happy to see my friends. It was a bit raining, so I went under Dafina's umbrella with Rere and watched everybody put up their tent. After a few minutes of waiting [maybe hours ] Noufal's family and Ghaisan  [Dafina's sister]  and her mum came followed by Raiyan and Nadyne's family and Kak Nisa and Ais' who came last. When everybody was here we started my birthday party, which I'm going to write about in my next post.

Going to Jamberoo

my family in Jamberoo

Every summer holidays my family would go somewhere that wasn't in Sydney. In 2009 we went to Jamberoo which was in the city Kiama. On the brochure it said to be the biggest amusement park in New South Whales. I always keep saying this is going to be the best day ever, but mum says there is a bigger amusement park in Gold Coast.   Since then I keep saying that Jamberoo is the best amusement park in Australia, but mum  always say that Gold Coast is better. I want to go to Gold Coast one day and see if she's right, but in the meantime I still think it Jamberoo is the best park in Australia.

I'm in the car with my family [mum, dad, Ayesha and me] on a two hour drive to Jamberoo. It was very long that trip. I thought it was going to take forever. I was getting bored on that car trip [like I always do], I wondered when we were going to stop. After a long hours drive we finally arrived inside the parking lot, in front of Jamberoo action park

Mum got everything ready, packed up in bags before we entered Jamberoo through the front gate. The line to get in was very long, people were taking a very long time showing their tickets or buying them at the ticket box. When we were at the front I found out why.We first had to show them our tickets and then we had to put a band or something on our wrist so people know we payed. I put mine on real quick, I don't know why people can't put theirs very quickly.

Once we got through headed to the wave pool in front of us. Next to it there was a pool where little kids could play. There were little water sprouting out of poles and the concrete and a place where they could pretend to be pirates. I wasn't that thrilled. It was kind of boring for a 7 year old like me [ I was seven at the time]. We were all waiting for our friends that was going to play with us. After a few more minutes of waiting they came. I was really exited to get in the water. There was lots of rides in Jamberoo but I wanted to go on the go kart the most. I had so much fun in Jamberoo, I went on the ride Outback bay which is the wave pool, rapid river where you sit in a bun and float along the river, Racing cars the fun go kart race, splash out a really long slippery slide and a chair lift going up to the bobsled a really cool ride that starts at the top of the hill. At the end of the day we all took a ride in the train that would take us around the park and back. After an exhausting but fun day we all went back in our car and drove to our motel in Kiama.

My Dad's Parents

Grandma, Grandpa and my family in Darling Harbour

Did you know that I'm going to stay in Australia for three and a half years without a trip back to my country? Of course you don't. I don't get lonely though, my grandparents visit me for a week or a month or two weeks and we always take them around Sydney and show them how to use things [like the ticket machine]. My grandparents live in another country though, so they can't visit me every weekend. In this post I'm going to tell you what my grandparents do  inside Sydney.

My dad's parents came first to visit us in Sydney. They would be sleeping at our house in my room, while I sleep on the sofa-bed with Ayesha [ my little sister]. My grandparents always load their suitcases with stuff they brought from Indonesia [my home country]. I always get clothes and other stuff from my other relatives.

My grandparents' first stop is always the Sydney Opera House at Circular Quay. I've been there a million times[well, maybe not a million but you know what I mean], but my parents always make me come. My family always does the same thing every year, taking photos in front of the Opera House. It's so boring in front of the House, why can't we ever come in? My grandparents also have two other favourite places, Darling Harbour and Paddy's Market.

Paddy's Market is near Darling Harbour and is full of different stuff. There's a reason why it's called a market. Inside there's two sections of the market. On one section they sell food and on the other side they sell toys, souvenirs, clothes, whatever you can imagine.I've never actually been in the food section before so I can't tell you what's inside, but I've been to the other section. My grandma always comes here for souvenirs and always buys them in the same shop. Sometimes I get a little bored so mum, Ayesha and I went around the market to find something that could entertain us. Mum knows this market off by heart so I knew we could never get lost. We always end up buying little toys from this shop that sells wooden toys. Then we would always go home and pack my grandparents suitcases ready for tomorrow morning.

Well, that's the END of my post, hope you go to one of these places, they're really interesting.

Railway

Me and Ayesha on the train

In Australia there are many different public transports. MY favourite is the train. I like the railways. I like it better than buses because when your on a bus your CRAMMED into a little space, but trains has a lot more room to move about. I also like it because you have a place to wait. A bus stops is a place but, sometimes it's just a sign with no place to sit.

I always like travelling with trains, but maybe it's because I don't have a bus stop in my suburb.

The End of Term Holiday

Ayasha jumping on the bed
You know how there is a holiday for the end of the term and everybody gets excited and all that. You would know if you've been to school. I don't know how they get all excited. Every time it's nearly the end of term holiday I always think it is going to be fun that I have no school, but when its actually is the holiday I always get bored because I have nothing to do. My sister, Ayesha, she never gets bored. As you can see in the picture on the left [<], Ayesha can have fun even though it is a little thing like jumping on the bed. Ayesha is very lucky she's still small and she's lucky doesn't get bored so quickly.

My great school

Hampden Park Public School

There's MY school in the photo above /\. I don't remember who took that picture because it was a long time ago, maybe this was the first time I ever saw this school. I just remember when I was 7 [ it was before I went to school here], I was swinging in the park across the road and while I was swinging mum pointed at the school across the road and said "That's your school Didi." Didi's my nickname. I couldn't see clearly but I could see the blue gate and one of the buildings.

Few weeks later I was at school and I've been put into the class 2SS [Ms Sungkar's class]. It was a nice class, but I was too shy to speak because everything's new to me. I was put to ESL [English Second Language] in term two because I didn't know how to speak very well. When I got to year three I stopped ESL after the first semester. I was glad  I got out because work was too easy and sometimes I miss the fun stuff in my class.

Well, now I'm ten and and in year five at Hampden Park. I've been here for 4 years and liked every class I have been in [2SS,3GS,4JB and 5GK]. I think this is a very nice school, my parents might not agree but this story is MY point of view.

My favourite book series

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Hi I'm about to tell you that I love reading, but you already know because of my profile so I will not tell you. One of my absolute  favourite series of books are the Harry Potter books. I never liked  any of the books till last year, when I was in year four. My teacher read the first book  to us to learn visualisation. That day when I came home from school, I really liked that first chapter, so I took my first Harry Potter book, that I never read and started reading it.I liked it so much, I finished the entire book in just two nights! I asked mum to buy me the other Harry Potter books and she said she would.I've been reading Harry Potter books ever since mum bought the second book and I liked every single one.

Why I hate the color pink

When I was 4 wearing pink
Today, at the age of ten I hate the color pink. I think it is too much of a girly color. When I was a little girl I totally loved pink. I had pink everything, but when I grew older I had a new favourite color,  BLUE. My friend once told me that if you're not girly now, you were girly when you were younger, and now I know she was right!
